Riders in the Wind

Riders in the Wind - Gayathri Ponvannan

He's thirteen, he's just tamed the wildest horse in the Mughal Empire and he's soon going to inherit the most powerful fort in the kingdom. Tej just can't wait to be king!

Tej Singh's day sin his native Bundelkhand are filled with thrilling rides, wrestling bouts and dreams about his future.

"But there's no stopping the howling winds of change"

When a chance encounter reveals that powerful foes have surrounded the citadel, it is up to Tej to gather an army, rescue his father and fulfill his destiny as the commander of the fort

Story mainly revolves around the three children namely Tej Singh, Mohammed Khan(Friend of Tej) and Rani (Tej's Uncle Daughter). He tamed the Wildest horse in the Mugal Emphire Baara Hazari and as a result, he got same horse as a gift.  His father Swaroop Singh is the King of Senji Fort. After a change in Mughal Empire, he was asked to new rules for Senji Fort (i.e., he has to pay hefty taxes or risk forfeiting the fort). At the same time, Nawab Of Arcot also had a plan to acquire Senji. One day Tej came to know about all issues of Senji. Then, Tej along with his friends and Uncle Amar(Father of Rani, who lead the army) along with all the soldiers planned to help his father. But, while reaching Senji they came to know that Swaroop was dead. Now, it's a time for Tej to be a King. How he handled entire soldiers? Did this young child saved his fort from Nawab? How he handled the battle? Did he won the battle and save the fort?

According to me, the story was well narrated and make you to travel through the Eighteenth Century India. Nature of Senji Fort and also Bundelkand was well written and make you to feel like you were in that place. The battle chapters of Uncle Amar and also Tej battle with a enemy are narrated only a few pages. The reason may be the book was written for children levels age group. But the first attack of Tej on his enemy was well written. This book will tell you about the hope, courage and determination. It will make you excited, how this young child have these levels of courage and determination. This book is perfect for age group after 12 or 13. Because, even this book also revolves around child age group of 13. The main drawback I found was usage of words. It will make you to learn lot of new words. These new words describes not only meaning, but also it explains perfect action at that particular scene. Please make sure you have a Dictionary or any apps to understand meaning.

P.S. I bought this book from local store and I am not able to find any copies online or ebooks. If anything available will let you know in this page. If you already read this book, please let me know about your views.
